Treadmill Testing (Cardiac Stress Test)

Treadmill Testing (Cardiac Stress Test)A stress test measures your cardiovascular system's (heart and blood vessels) response to physical exercise. Monitoring wires are attached to your body with adhesive pads (men, chest hair may need to be shaved where chest pads are applied.) You will then walk on a treadmill that gradually increases in speed and elevation throughout the procedure. During the entire procedure, your heart rate and blood pressure will be monitored, with the physician and an assistant close by at all times. If you experience any problems, the procedure will be stopped immediately.
